Edward Teach Youth Sailing Association is accepting applications for a Lead Instructorand two assistant camp instructors for summer 2015. This youth sailing program is well established and successful; our lead instructor needs a high degree of skill and a lot of enthusiasm. We have students ranging from total beginners to advanced skippers, and large body of enthusiastic and capable volunteers. This curriculum focuses on teamwork and seamanship; some racing is included but not emphasized.
 
Requirements -     Lead: Current US Sailing Level 1 Dinghy Instructor
                                    Assistant Instructor: US Sailing Counselor or higher
Safety/Motorboat Operator
CPR/1st Aid is required
Excellent dinghy sailing skills
Ability to work well with volunteers
Desirable- Lifeguard certification, familiarity with Optimist Prams and sloops
 
Our Lead Instructor will be in charge of daily operations of a sailing day camp, supervising volunteer instructors and operations on the water. The camps will have 20 ~ 25 students divided into beginner and advanced groups. The instructors will not be responsible for administration or maintenance, but will need to delegate the volunteers to conduct lessons, and supervise overall. The instructors will need to have empathy for kids ages 8~12 who are total beginners to boating & sailing, and should have enthusiasm for teaching.
 
Great host facility, fleet is 14 Optis, 5 Topaz, 2 420s, and several other small boats. Sailingvenue on the Neuse River in eastern NC is beautiful and excellent for small-boat sailing. Competitive pay, housing provided at no cost, transportation possible for the right candidates.
